Three artists interpret & explore the theme of origins in both subject matter & manipulation of their media.

Ceramicist Barbara Hirano creates contemporary works from stoneware clay. Utilizing a variety of techniques, Hirano redefines the traditional art form of pottery beyond simple containers into evocative abstract art.

Sculptor Ivanno Macci creates work using rare wood retrieved from the cold waters of the northern Pacific Ocean. Inspired by Classical Greco-Roman mythology, Macci's transforms this wood, marble & stone into reflections of mythical gardens & temples infused elements of with modern architecture & art. 

Painter Patricia Vaughan's work looks to the past as a way of confronting the future. Inspired by European cave paintings, Vaughan's expressive, stylized works imagine a universal past filled with relatable stories & scenes. 

Opening Reception: Tuesday, Aug. 13th, from 6-8pm
