Vessels: Revelation/Containment

  • Tuesday, November 12, 2019
  • Sunday, December 15, 2019
  • Kay Meek Arts Centre - 1700 Mathers Ave

Artists  Kathleen Ainscough & Barbara Pearson explore themes of change, revelation, memory & containment in works using imagery of  various kinds of vessels.

Ainscough's mixed media works use deconstructed & abstracted architectural & vessel forms - a building, book, boat, cup - as a jumping off point to interpret the concepts of impermanence, memory, the passage of time & the revelations they can bring.

Pearson's work made from mixed media & repurposed materials, explores urban consciousness as it relates to our local geography, its waterways, the iconic vessels - shipping freighters & their containers - & the cost of their increasing encroachment on the shorelines.
