'3:47 #2'

Rosemary Burd

'Old Growth Majesty'

Kelvin Lit

Our interactions with the natural world can transcend merely viewing & appreciating beautiful scenes into transformative experiences.

Artists Rosemary Burd & Kelvin Lit present unique interpretations of nature that transcend representative depictions, instead offering unique interpretations on forests, shorelines & landscapes that reflect emotional & intellectual explorations of their subject & media.

Photography/textile artist Rosemary Burd attempts to capture the totality of experiencing the wonder of nature through shaky iPhone photos overlaid with luminous silk thread stitched in. Burd is captivated by the fullness of light & colour that exists in a single moment; that interplay of light & colour as sunlight streams through the branches.

Painter Kelvin Lit explores the phenomenological aspects of place, transforming his private gaze into new & evocative representations of pictorial space. His gaze is the starting point, a recording of landscapes in a moment in time, which are then imbued with memories & emotional associations through impasto planes of colour & gestural abstractions, merging the inner & outer world.

Breaking free from strictly realistic representation, both artists' works exude an overall calm & joyous documentation of light & colour, while also embodying the energetic use of textures &  movement through brush stitches or stitches.
