Textile Art Demos: Stumpwork & Boutis

Get an up-close view of artists at work! Artists exhibiting in Cherry Blossoms: A Textile Translation will demonstrate a variety of textile art forms & techniques in an informal & intimate setting.

Jill Taylor will demonstrate stumpwork - a style of embroidery in which the stitched figures are raised from the surface of the work to form a 3-dimensional effect.

Elizabeth Janzen demonstrates Boutis - a French technique that employs hand stitching & cording to create a raised dimensions that highlight design & patterns.
