This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Silk Purse & the home of the West Vancouver Community Arts Council since 1991!

Built in 1925 as a summer cottage, this treasured piece of local history has been many things to many people: seasonal getaway, honeymoon destination, family home, thriving arts centre.

Community Celebration

Join us on Saturday, June 28th from 4 to 6 pm to celebrate the legacy of this beloved local landmark.

• Dress in 1920’s style & snap a selfie at our photo booth.
• Live music with Emmett Hatlelid, vocals, & Stephen Robb, keyboard. Popular tunes from the 20’s & 30’s.
• Snapshots of West Vancouver in the 20’s. Assisted by West Vancouver Archives.
• Wish the Silk Purse cottage a ‘happy birthday’ by signing a giant Art Scroll guided by artists Sonia Mocnik & Manjari Dutta.
• Complimentary cake & refreshments for the first 100 guests.

Participate in the creation of a Memory Book

• Drop off your photos, articles & memories, or copies of, to be part of a Memory Book that will be on display for the event & after.
• Memories can be dropped off at the Silk Purse from June 11 - 22, during arts centre hours.

Bid on Silent Auction items, purchase Raffle Tickets to win 1 of 3 prizes, or take home a ‘surprise’ bottle of wine packaged in an originally decorated wine bag by a local artist.

Funds raised will support our free community engagement programming.
